15th Türkiye Energy Summit Opening Remarks

Our Association President, Gama Energy Board Member and General Manager Mr. Tamer Çalışır delivered the opening speech at the 15th Turkey Energy Summit, sharing critical topics on energy transformation with the sector.

The following points were particularly emphasized in the speech:

- The step taken by EPDK in 2022 towards electricity production with storage has successfully overcome an important threshold in the transformation by introducing Turkey to the flexibility solutions required by modern electricity markets.
The commissioning of the first storage units in 2026 demonstrates that this step has yielded concrete results.

- The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources' YEKA model and renewable energy policies have been decisive in Turkey reaching a 62% share of renewables in its installed capacity and have strengthened the sector's appetite for long-term investment.

- The timely and comprehensive implementation of secondary legislation on super permits is critical for accelerating the energy transition and ensuring the healthy advancement of storage technologies, flexible market designs, and new system architectures.

- Major outages around the world in recent years have clearly demonstrated the role of software-based business solutions, data analytics, modern protection systems, and battery technologies in the sustainability of electrical systems.

As EÜD, representing all sources of electricity as an umbrella organization, we will continue to develop solutions in all areas, from renewable capacity expansion to storage, market design to grid security, and serve as the unified voice of our sector.

We are determined to turn the opportunities presented by the energy transition for Turkey into reality through public-private sector cooperation.
