Electricity Market Transformation Summit - “Leaders’ Session: Regulation, Investment, and Flexibility”

Our Association President, Gama Energy Board Member and General Manager Mr. Tamer Çalışır, served as a speaker at the panel titled “Leaders’ Session: Regulation, Investment, and Flexibility,” held as part of the Electricity Markets Transformation Summit.

Moderated by Elif Düşmez Tek, President of the Energy Digitalization Association (EDİDER), the session addressed the sector’s transformation dynamics alongside our Association Member, Bilal Tuğrul Kaya, General Manager of Entek and President of ETD, and Alper Terciyanlı, Vice President of EDSİS.

Our Chairman highlighted the pressure global geopolitical developments and risks exert on energy prices, emphasizing the importance of cost management for the system’s sustainability. Noting that energy production only gains value when combined with flexibility, he underscored that storage is not a choice but a necessity at this stage.
He noted the need to clarify regulatory processes and risk maps regarding battery technologies, while also addressing the rising costs in EPC and permitting processes despite cost reductions on the battery side. He reminded the audience that for storage investments to be built on a sustainable foundation, revenue sources must be diversified and supported by net revenue mechanisms, and shared the strategic importance of turning to alternative storage solutions such as PHES in addition to lithium-ion batteries.
