Our Association President Tamer Çalışır Was a Guest on Bloomberg HT's Future Energy Program

06 March 2026

Our Association President, Gama Energy Board Member and General Manager Mr. Tamer Çalışır made critical statements about our sector on the Future Energy program broadcast on Bloomberg HT.

You can access the broadcast via the link below.

Highlights from our President's speech:
- The pressure exerted by tensions in the Middle East and the region on energy pipelines has made global energy security a strategic priority.
- The extreme sensitivity of Brent oil and TTF prices has once again demonstrated how critical it is to turn to domestic resources for economic stability.
- The requirement that electricity be consumed at the moment it is generated will change with battery systems. Storage is now one of the main elements of the energy system, not just a complementary one.
- Turkey's storage capacity is expected to exceed 1000 MW by the end of 2026. This will mark the beginning of a new era in energy supply security.
- To reach the 120 GW renewable energy target by 2035, approximately 7-8 GW of new capacity must be added to the system each year.
- A robust transmission grid backbone and investments in this direction are vital for the healthy integration of renewable energy into the main grid.
- The “super permit” that accelerates investment processes and new EIA regulations that reduce bureaucracy are important catalysts for Turkey's energy transition.
- The sector's priority is to produce predictable, long-term agreements and bankable projects for investments to materialize.

We would like to thank Bloomberg HT for hosting this valuable program and Ms. Pelin Yantur and Mr. Bülent Kaya for moderating.

The Electricity Producers Association (EÜD), which unites electricity producers in the Turkish energy sector under a single roof, has an installed capacity of approximately 57,000 MW with 69 members.

Since its establishment in 2002, EÜD has been operating to contribute to the creation of a competitive and transparent market, to find solutions to common problems on behalf of Independent Electricity Generation Companies, and to improve information sharing and cooperation among its members. In addition, it has been working steadfastly for the establishment of a financially sound, stable and transparent market that can operate under the provisions of private law in order to provide electricity to consumers in a sufficient, high quality, continuous, economic and environmentally friendly manner and to ensure independent regulation and supervision in this market.
