EÜD Chairman Mr. Cem Aşık’s Evaluations on the Capacity Mechanism

The evaluations of our Association President, Mr. Cem Aşık, regarding the capacity mechanism were recently featured in the press.

Key highlights 👇🏻
⚡ The capacity mechanism, implemented to support electricity supply security and ensure the sustainability of power plants, tripled in size in 2024, reaching TL 13 billion in support compared to the previous year.
⚡ Natural gas power plants received the largest share of the support, while domestic coal-fired power plants were also significantly supported.
⚡ Highlighting the growth in renewable energy, our President emphasized the critical role of the capacity mechanism in maintaining flexible generation plants, which are essential for integrating renewables into the system.
⚡ “Today, it is not possible to reliably integrate renewable resources into the system on their own without these power plants.”
